Lotfi Mecharbat obtained his Master's degree in Computer Science from the Higher National School for Computer Science in 2022, with thesis research on optimizing neural networks for edge devices. Following his graduation, he spent a year as a research engineer with Professor Smail Niar at LAMIH, France, where he worked at the intersection of neural architecture search, Edge AI, and computer vision. During this period, Mecharbat successfully led a collaborative project with Alstom, developing a sensor-based system using onboard cameras to detect and diagnose anomalies in railway equipment.

After that, he joined NYU Abu Dhabi as a research assistant at the Center for Quantum and Topological Systems under the supervision of Professor Tuka Elhanai, where he worked on the intersection of deep learning and quantum physics. Currently, he is a PhD student in Machine Learning at MBZUAI, specializing in automated neural architecture design for medical applications.
